Reflections, Review, Moving Forward Renewed....

Hello again my beloved friend!  I have missed writing here, but in the months that I have been absent from posting on Nereids' Enchantments I have been immersed in personal research for my writing project.  This has also been an intense time of personal reflection. I have really delved into my inner self and psyche in order to discern the next steps on my path. I have been over taken in researching mythology and its symbolism and allegory, along with looking into the origins of civilization and how the work and scholarship of ancient times extends into present day.

One of the main keys that I have uncovered lies in the understanding of the procession of the equinox, for the ancients were master astronomers who understood the cycles of time and and the cyclical nature of Earth, the path of the sun, and the cycles of the seasons.  For me my connection to Earth increased as I delved into the astronomical cycles that are effecting each and every one of us everyday.  The book Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas does and excellent job of breaking down the historical patterns that have appeared in western culture, and how these cyclical patterns tie into the alignment of the planets.  This is a book of high scholarship, and does an excellent job in shedding light on the fact that we are effected by cosmic patterns.

Syncretism is also a major guiding factor for me at this time.  I am lead by the signs of the universe that are revealed to each and every one of us so that we can uncover our correct path.  It is guidance from the higher self, which becomes revealed when you align with the magic of Earth, and the gift of life, which we are all here experiencing on this plane.  Life is magic, and the patterns of nature are a magical key.  I am really trying to learn to fall into the flow of life, letting myself energetically feel my way through each and every day, and today I was drawn back to my blog...

I am not the only one, a movement is going on!  Many are awakening to the illusions of this plane.  Alice teaches us that life is but a dream, and as I awake, the more I see of the illusion.  I am following my heart and letting life be my guide,  I have big dreams and a big vision, creator...CREATE!

Dream, Love, Know...

This is a pivotal post as I take my next steps in really establishing my vision and focus. I have been contemplating  my research and book project as I pull it all together.  This blog, and my sister blog sites are pivotal to the future self that I am establishing in the now, and this will all become apparent when my work starts to fall in place.

One of my key steps as I move to the next level with this manifestation, is the address the flaw in my adage, that came to me when I began this project.  My tag has been: Dream, Love, Believe... It has meant to follow your dreams, with your heart as your guide, and the belief that your dream will manifest in the physical 3rd dimensional reality.

Well many signs have told me that I have graduated to the next level, and I am no longer guided by believing in something.  Instead, I KNOW that we are reincarnated beings, a fact that was removed from the bible sometime in 500AD.  For more on the deception within the bible look into Santos Bonacci and his research, he is on fire right now!  I truly miss his radio show on American Freedom Radio, but he has shown up as a guest to some very key shows speaking truth.  Santos was one of my teachers who made me see that it was time for my adage to be changed...

We are born with a knowing that we loose as we descend into this 3rd dimensional reality.  We are programmed to hold tight to our BELIEFS. My meditations have shown that instead perhaps there is a change that needs to occur in our thinking.  Truth should be sought, even if it makes you uncomfortable, because in truth lies the light.  In truth there lies a KNOWING.  We must dream to conceive. Love is what should guide us all, and in love you will find peace.  And finally, there is a knowing that we all should seek.  The truth exists in many forms for those who have the eyes to see the ears to hear.

My blog title spotted in Herodotus

How cool! I found an excerpt with the title of my blog right form the pages of myth...

"For the storm continued during three days; but at last the Magians, making sacrifice of victims and singing incantations to appease the Wind by enchantments, [198] and in addition to this, offering to Thetis and Nereids, caused it to cease on the fourth day, or else for some reason it abated of its own will. Now they offered sacrifice to Thetis, being informed by the Ionians of the story that she was carried off from the place by Peleus, and that the whole headland of Sepias belonged to her and to the other Nereids."

Nereids' Enchantments Blog (Shifting Focus)

This post is the result of personal reflection about the direction I want my blog to take. For about two years, I have been blogging with no real understanding of why I was being compelled to post. I did not have a clear vision of what I wanted to create. I just started sharing clips, ideas, and tidbits that interested me, thinking they may be of interest to others as well, and they have been! So, a big THANK YOU to all that have found me over the last two years! Now, I would like to establish a community! One for the spiritual seeker, who has an open mind, and is open to exploring the realm of possibilities that lie in our multi-dimensional existence.

Looking back over journals that I have kept throughout the years, the one thing that I have always discussed, besides teaching, was writing (with an emphasis on myth, magic, fairytales, and folklore). In 2006 I committed to returning to school, and completed my Masters in Education, because I was compelled to teach, just like in undergrad when I was compelled to heal (and pursued a degree/career in social work). Now the time has come for me to pursue my path as a writer, which I have been focused on for the last two years!

I have studied the esoteric and occult since high school, lifelong hobbies that coincided with my educational and career pursuits (but I have really grown so much, by being able to focus on my personal studies for the past two years, with no other distractions). And now, I am coming out of the spiritual closet (metaphorically speaking) and I am going to really begin and share the knowledge that I have compiled, read, and written about over the last fifteen years, as I tried to seek out the meaning to life, the truth behind religion, astrology, tarot, astronomy, numerology, symbolism (these are to name a few). I definitely do not have the answers, but will begin to share my thoughts, and I hope that in turn inspires you to share with me your thoughts, comments, questions, opinions, as well...

The meaning to life, why we are here/our path are lifelong questions, meant to be worked out daily, as we live and learn the lessons that this life has to offer (I have come to believe in reincarnation and past lives). I have also come to believe that there are no wrong choices, so each experience that we are having is a lesson meant to be learned, as we grow and move forward on our path, we are meant to be where we are at any given moment.
This does not negate the fact that there will be struggles and lows, but understand that the struggles and lows are lessons ordered by our higher self, which is plugged into the universal flow, and understands the greater good. Even if your present moment seems hopeless and unsupported, it is serving a higher purpose (the experience serves as keys to connecting with source). I use the metaphor of key quite often in my work, for we are unlocking a mystery!

I have hinted at my beliefs and ideas in posts since this blogs inception. But, I have not been outwardly sharing my spiritual ideas, because much of my thinking is on the fringe, and is repressed in a seemingly religious world, that is afraid of ghosts, fairies, elves, unicorns, witches, and wizards (to name a few), yet at the core of all religions is a belief in the otherworldly, godly, and divine...the supernatural, which is part of the wonder and mystery of life. I play with concepts of the fictional world in fact being reality, for I have come to believe that reality exists in layers, metaphors, and symbols. Which means that many times, we have to look beyond the surface, to what lies underneath, in order to discern, what in fact is truth.

This post is meant to shift the direction of this blog, into a more erudite and spiritual realm, although I will continue to post on the mundane, I thought a disclaimer was needed for what is to come ;)

New Moon

There is a new moon this Friday, September, 18th. This is a good time to meditate on new projects or works in progress. Visualizing your goals and where you want things to go once these projects are finished.

Lavender Room Spray

This summer I was plagued with tiny black ants on my front porch. So, I armed myself with a Lavender room spray that kept them away. I took a spray bottle and added 3 tbsp of rubbing alcohol, 10 drops Lavender essential oil, and then I added water. Shake it up and spray. Not only do you have an excellent room refresher, but this spray will also keep bugs at bay.

Good Tip (Aromatherapy)

Citrus Essential Oils have a shelf life of 6 months. But, this can be extended to a year when kept in the Fridge. Note, essential oils should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place.

Also, very few essential oils should ever be used neat (without mixing). Essential Oils are always mixed in Carrier Oils (which are vegetable oils) including: Sunflower, Safflower, Jojoba, Grapeseed...these oils can go rancid, and should be stored in a cool dark place. They last up to a year when kept in the fridge.

Foot Soak

Today, it felt like a good day to pamper my feet! As we speak I am sitting in a foot soak that I made for myself. I recently picked up the book Organic Body Care Recipes by Stephanie Tourles. First, I did an at home facial steam. Today, I am soaking my feet. I adapted a recipe that she has for callouses to make my own foot soak.

I ran hot water into my foot tub (which I cleaned with sea salt and water before hand). I have a container where I store marbles and sea shells for foot soaks. So, I added the shells and the marbles to the sea salt and water for a cleansing. Mixed around all the above, then dumped the water. Next, I filled the tub with hot water (I added one drop peppermint and lemon essential oil to the soak). Then, I set my foot pumice stone on the table next to where I am soaking my feet, to use after the soak. Then, I filled a cup with half a cup baking soda and half a cup sea salt.

I then set the tub beneath my chair. Sat down and immersed my feet into the foot bath. Added the baking soda and sea salt, and mixed everything together with my feet.

When I am done with the foot soak, I am going to rub my feet down with a pumice stone. Rub in a foot lotion, and then put on cotton socks.

Enjoy!

(p.s. if you don't have lemon and peppermint essential oils then omit)

Rose Essential Oil

As a person who unfortunately suffers from PMS and menstrual cramps, I have began to place four drops of Rose Otto essential oil in the tub the week leading up to and while I am on my period. Rose essential oil is associated with the uterus and relieving PMS symptoms, menstrual cramps, promoting regular periods, and a healthy uterus.

Inspirational Quote (Something to Ponder)

From The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success (A Pocketbook Guide to Fulfilling Your Dreams)  by Deepak Chopra
"We need a more spiritual approach to success and to affluence, which is the abundant flow of all good things to us.  In Spiritual terms, success is measured by how efficiently, how effortlessly we co-create with the universe.  Hard work, struggle, and frustration are the opposite of what the ancient sages taught; they knew that the spirit lies at the source of all achievement in life."

As I embark on this journey of starting and running my own business, I keep the above words in mind.  Each day, I try and set aside a time to meditate.  Clearing  my mind of the everyday stress and focusing on my inner voice and guide.  I can get overwhelmed with the logistics of getting my name and brand out to the world.  However, at the end of the day I just have to believe in myself.  I trust that the time and the effort that I am putting into coming up with ideas and products, will in the end pay off.

Right now my business is in the initial stages, and I am uncertain of the road that lies ahead.  I am working and pushing towards living my dreams! As life unfolds, I shall see what happens...
